The two big beaches in Lloret de Mar are separated by a wooded rocky headland 600 metres across and, at first glance, look the same: golden sand, seafront promenade, parasols, beach bars. But the differences are real, and depending on the kind of trip you’re on, one will suit you noticeably better. This is the honest side-by-side.

Size and sand
- Platja de Lloret: 1.6 km long, coarse golden sand. The longest beach in Lloret, but the usable space in August shrinks a lot because of how packed it gets.
- Fenals: 700 m long, fine golden sand. Shorter but less saturated — fewer towels per square metre.
Atmosphere
- Platja de Lloret: visibly touristy, plenty going on along the promenade (bars, restaurants, shops, things to do). Mostly international visitors (UK, NL, FR, ES). In August the zone stays alive late.
- Fenals: more residential and family. A “summer holiday with the kids” feel. Less evening buzz in the immediate area.

Parking
- Platja de Lloret: paid, nearby. Saturated in August. Around 2–2.50 €/hour, 20–25 €/day.
- Fenals: paid, own car park, slightly cheaper. More likely to find a space.
Connection to the rest of town
- Platja de Lloret: in the heart of town. Walk off the sand and you’re at restaurants, shops, bars. 5 min walk to Sa Caleta, 10 min to the Castell d’en Plaja.
- Fenals: residential area. Walk off the sand and you’re in a zone of hotels and apartments. To the town centre: 25 min on foot via the coast path (part on urban road).
Views
- Platja de Lloret: the Castell d’en Plaja on the headland at the southern end. The town’s iconic shot.
- Fenals: clean horizon, no landmark in the frame. More “timeless” but less memorable as an image.

What you don’t see at first
The westerly wind hits Platja de Lloret harder because of its more open orientation. On afternoons when the Garbí is blowing, Fenals stays more sheltered and comfortable.
The party level on the Platja de Lloret promenade from 22:00 onwards in summer is high. If you’re staying in a sea-view room above the main beach, weekends can be loud. Fenals is clearly quieter at night.
Sunset: since Fenals sits to the west of Platja de Lloret, the sun drops behind its own headland and the golden hour ends earlier than on the main beach. For a long golden-hour finish, Platja de Lloret wins.

Which is cleaner? Equivalent. Both pass water tests and hold Blue Flag. Daily sand cleaning is the same (municipal service).
Which is better for snorkelling? Neither is great — they’re sand beaches. For proper snorkelling, head to Sa Boadella or the hidden coves.
Which has the best beach-bar food? Similar offering. The beach bars at the northern end of Platja de Lloret (near the harbour) do the better fresh fish. Fenals leans more “tourist menu” standard.
